After months of closure due to the destruction wrought by Hurricane Katrina in August 2005, WorldMark New Orleans at Avenue Plaza is preparing to open its doors again to WorldMark owners. Happily, the resort is scheduled to be back in operation in time for the city’s renowned Mardi Gras celebrations, which run Feb. 10–20, 2007.

Resort inventory will be accessible starting on Friday, December 15, 2006, for stays beginning Thursday, February 1, 2007. “As we would with any ‘new’ resort, we have chosen an opening date that we are confident in,” says Vice President of WorldMark Resort Operations Dave Akins. “We look forward to moving our arrival date up as we receive assurances that progress is being made in a timely manner.” Akins continues: “We’re all very excited to have this terrific urban resort coming back into the fold.”
