Go WEST Young Man
By Dave Akins — VP, WorldMark by Wyndham Resort Operations
The Scantron 2500 was a beautiful thing back in April 2000. It was the new millennium; we'd survived the Y2K scare and we were feeling very tech-savvy. Our Controller, Dorothy Lyon, had procured this automated scanning machine to bring us into the modern world - at least with regard to tabulating our WorldMark comment cards. Prior to this, all the comment card scores were entered by hand, quite an onerous process. By late 2000, we'd transitioned to scannable cards for all 35 resorts and had processed 75,363 comment cards. Our largest resort at the time was Coral Baja with 135 units and we delivered 142,129 vacations throughout WorldMark that year. At the close of 2007, we will have processed close to 200,000 comment cards. For the past year, we've been reviewing new options for gathering this vital owner feedback in more comprehensive, timely and cost effective way. Fortunately, our collegues at Wyndham Vacation Resorts were seeking the same solution and toether we located Medallia, a leader in the competitive customer feedback industry who is acutely attuned to the hospitatliy business and serves numerous hotel and vacation ownership brands throughout the United States. Working together to develop an assessment that would ask the right questions without being cumbersome to WorldMark owners and guests. We began testing the new owner survey tool, also known as WEST (Wyndham Electronic Survey Tool), at 12 WorldMark resorts through a pilot program launched in April of 2007. We're extremely pleased with the results and we look forward to rolling the program out to all resorts by year-end. The wealth of information we receive and the real-time nature of the reporting provides us with a useful means of identifying owner concerns and taking immediate action towards resolution. If you prefer a pen and paper, the current comment card will still be available upon request. We will continue to award a 3-night stay at any WorldMark resort to the winner of the monthly drawing from those who submit their surveys, so be sure to let know about your stay. Thanks for your continued feedback and for assisting us in making WorldMark the preferred vacation ownership throughout the land. |
